Dragon Cement plant to layoff more workers

Dragon Cement in Thomaston , Maine, USA, is planning six more layoffs, following 65 layoffs in the last year.  The manufacturing operations are being closed and the plant will shift to a distributional model, said Thomaston Town Manager, Kara George. The Federal Trade Commission has announced that Lehigh Cement Co (HeidelbergCement Group) and Keystone Cement Co (Giant Cement group) have decided to abandon their proposed merger. HeidelbergCement has announced that its north American subsidiary, Lehigh Hanson Inc, has entered into an agreement to acquire Giant Cement’s (Elementia SAB de CV) Keystone facility in Bath, Pennsylvania.
